Earlier this summer, I participated in the “5 Leadership Questions” podcast. Usually podcast interviews are pretty easy. I’m a guest on at least several radio shows or podcasts per week, and I usually don’t spend much time preparing for them.

But this invitation was different, largely because they wanted to ask me questions about leadership. I’m not used to writing or speaking about leadership, so I actually spent some time reflecting on how I’d want to answer the questions the following five questions that would be posed to me by the hosts, Daniel Im and Todd Adkins:

  1. What is a conflict or failure that has benefited you in leadership?
  2. Who or what has been the greatest leadership influence in your life?
  3. What do you want your leadership legacy to be?
  4. What habits or practices do you focus on so you can continue to learn as a leader?
  5. What is the best piece of leadership advice you have ever been given?

I enjoyed the interview. Daniel and Todd are fantastic interviewers and we had big fun. We talked about my struggle to overcome “fear of man.” I gave some tips on work productivity. We discussed what it means to be a trustworthy Christian “thought leader” in the public square. And much more.
